What to pack for long term travel?

Geography
When it comes to solo female travel, a backpack beats traditional luggage hands down. It’s lightweight, versatile, and makes navigating streets, trains, or remote destinations so much easier. For top-tier functionality and style, I recommend Tropicfeel backpacks (They’re not even sponsoring me to say this btw). Their modular design, durability, and sustainability are perfect for long-term adventures. A backpack lets you stay mobile and spontaneous: exactly what solo travel is all about.
WHAT TO PACK FOR LONG TERM TRAVEL

1. Clothing Essentials

    •    Underwear: The unsung hero of your bag, pack enough!

    •    3-4 versatile tops

    •    2-3 bottoms (leggings, shorts, lightweight pants)

    •    1 dress or jumpsuit

    •    Layering pieces: a fleece or sweater, a light jacket, and a rain shell

    •    Swimwear

2. Shoes

    •    Comfortable walking shoes

    •    Sandals or flip-flops

    •    Optional: lightweight boots for colder climates

3. Toiletries & Basics

    •    Pack only the essentials; refill or buy as needed abroad.

    •    Menstrual products, if applicable (some places have limited availability).

4. Weather-Ready Gear

    •    A packable rain jacket

    •    A scarf or buff (for layering and modesty).

5. Miscellaneous Must-Haves

    •    A small laundry kit

    •    Travel towel

    •    Reusable water bottle

Why Pack Light?

Many items can be purchased cheaper abroad, like clothes or toiletries in Southeast Asia. Plus, by leaving room in your bag, you’ll have space for treasures you find on your journey!

Testimonials

I can’t sing enough praises about Hannah’s travel planning! I have told everyone I know about her services – and everyone is always shocked and how much she helps with for such a low price. Hannah planned me a 6 week trip in between matching for residency and graduating from medical school. I was able to go all around Japan, southern Thailand, and northern Vietnam. From the beginning, she was kind, patient, and adaptable as my ideas changed quickly. Throughout my trip, my dad, brother, and best friend all come visit me at different times and she planned each section of the trip perfectly for their personalities! She even found an English speaking fly fishing guide in Japan for my dad! She made so many changes for me during the trip as things came up, like when I realized I wanted to work scuba diving into my itinerary, spend more time in HaNoi, or change my HaGiang loop dates. She never made me feel like a bother even though it was so much work for her to make all these changes and do so much research. I did the larger package that included day-to-day planning and it was so worth it. She found me the most incredible hostels - I was easily able to make friends at every stop along the way! And when I needed a break from the hostel life, she was able to find really great guesthouses/cheap hotels. She had great recommendations about good food in the area or secret beaches to not miss. A super underrated bonus was the organized to-do list she made while trip planning. I was super busy with residency interviews during most of the planning process and she made prioritized lists for me to check in on to ensure nothing fell through the cracks. She checked in on me numerous times throughout the trip and truly cared so much about me having the absolute best time. I cannot say enough good things about Hannah and her work! It is such a steal for all of the things that are included in her packages. I will absolutely be booking her again!
